David Bucklow is a self-taught fine artist living in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in 1969 in Gauteng,
David attributes his ability to create life-like paintings to the steady hand he developed while doing live portrait sketching during his formative years.
He started painting while still at high school, with his first painting, however, only being sold in 1997, when he was 28. David has been painting for over 30 years and his work has become sought-after both nationally and internationally. He primarily works with a selection of acrylics on canvas and by doing so he captures hyper-realistic paintings of seascapes and wildlife.
His love for wildlife was inspired by observing the African biosphere during his time spent in Mpumalanga. With a camera at hand on all of his adventures, David’s eye is trained to capture moments, which he later transposes onto canvas.
