In Impressions Across Distance / The Space Between, my practice moves between clay and watercolour, between permanence and dissolution. The ceramic vessels carry etched fragments—ducks in flight, gates ajar, facades half‑remembered—like whispers of memory pressed into earth. They are containers of story, holding the fragile balance between what is lost and what endures.

Beside them, the watercolour mushroom fountain rise and dissolve, forms drifting into one another like breath. Inspired by the natural phenomenon of ‘mushroom pee’ a sign that growth continues even when it appears flawed, the work became a metaphor for my own passage through rupture and relocation. In the wake of a breakup and the shifting of homes, I felt as though something was wrong, yet like the mycelium, I was still alive, still growing.

Together, these works inhabit the space between endings and beginnings. They speak of resilience in instability, of growth in dissolution, of memory etched and dissolved across distance. They remind me—and perhaps the viewer—that even in the most fragile states, life persists, and new forms emerge, carrying us forward into the unknown.
