We’re taught to measure ourselves by what we produce; money, grades, titles, all visible proofs of effort turned into result. Achievement becomes a currency, something to hold as evidence that a life has mattered. If achievement is a measure of existence then having nothing valued by the world is erasure itself. Fearing this doesn’t just erode self-worth, it isolates.
