Ode to Love
An Exciting New Exhibition Opening 3rd Feb.
The idea behind an Ode to Love is to go back to a time when a declaration of love wasn’t bought off a supermarket shelf wrapped in shiny paper and looking like 1000’s of other declarations. And while many of us will keep these cards as nostalgic keepsakes, the flowers die soon and well…as pretty as heart shaped chocolates are…they get devoured rather quickly.
The first valentines’ cards were thoughtfully handmade works of art. Paper was hand cut or folded to reveal a special hiddenlove image. Origami revealed secrets of love and even embroidery or lace and ribbons were used to create something unique.
The exhibition will open on 3 February 2024 and buyers will be able to buy a unique Valentines gift for a loved one, a card that is also an artwork that can be showcased in a home as a constant reminder of a shared love.
