I Mmutla Mashishi was born and bred in a small village called Driefontain, Limpopo in 1975,
where I matriculated in Refiloe High School.
I am self-taught artist who always loved art with a passion. I furthered my studies in INTEC
College and completed a certificate course in Hard Land Scaping.
I worked with Antony Smit in Anton Smit Studios, in 2001 – 2005. And then moved on to
work with Angus Tailor in 2006 - 2007 and 2013. During the time I was working with Anton
Smit, I was working as an artist at Mamelodi Heritage Forum.
I worked as an art facilitator in Witbank Correctional Services in 2008 – 2009 and Sonder
Water Correctional Services also as an art facilitator from 2010 – 2012.
In 2014 I worked at D`Nokasi Crafters as an independent Art Facilitator and left in 2021
where I started working on my art independently. After being signing up for residency in
Living Arts Emporium (LAE) since 2023 until to-date, I signed up for a studio in Asisebenze
Art Atelier since 2024 until to-date.
