Sol e Lua

The vessel, Sol e Lua, draws inspiration from celestial motifs and pots created during the Ancient Greek period. The vase is partly meant to show the relationship between Greek mythology and discoveries made in our galaxy, as seen by the hollowed-out star and constellation patterns. Ancient Greek pots were often made to tell a story, in a way my vase shows the turning from night to day or simply, dawn. Part of the vase represents night and the other part represents day, so the section of night “peels” away to reveal day. The vase is asymmetrically balanced as well to represent, as a whole, the perfect balance of our world despite nothing being identical with one another.
