She’s Got The Whole World In Her Hands

My artwork explores the connection between humans and nature. The main idea behind my artwork is the beautiful African safari, which inspired me to explore the relationship between humans and nature, the place they call “home”. 

This artwork contains various elements that contribute to its meaning. The bark-like texture is used because baobab trees are considered the trees of life. This symbolises the baobab tree gives life to Africa. The roots around the base of the hand symbolise being born and raised in Africa. The theme was “Out of Africa”. This artwork can be interpreted as the idea of not calling Africa ‘home’ is out of this world. The rough, rugged middle represents that although Africa sometimes has a bad stigma around it, it is still a breath-taking place people live in and love. 

Overall, “She’s got the whole world in her hands” is a piece recognising the beauty of the world around us. Through this artwork, I wish to encourage the viewer to realise how lucky we are to call Africa ‘home’ and to be grateful for our magnificent continent.
