In this artwork Natty the giraffe brings her friends to act as an aura as a warning for a seizure. An epilepsy aura is a distinctive and often complex phenomenon experienced by many individuals with epilepsy. Serving as a precursor to a seizure, an aura offers critical insights into the neurological processes underlying the disorder and plays a significant role in the daily lives of those affected. The epilepsy aura originates from abnormal electrical activity in specific regions of the brain. This localized hyperactivity, known as a focal seizure, does not immediately spread to other parts of the brain, allowing the individual to remain conscious and aware. The area of the brain where this activity occurs determines the characteristics of the aura. I experience emotional auras which are also prevalent, with intense feelings of fear, joy, or sadness without any apparent cause. Emotional auras point to temporal lobe activity.
