Rain is a personal work. The bird is based on the likeness of a Mossie bird. The name that most people used to call my grandmother was Mossie. I feel that she lived a life of selflessness and took it upon herself to be a pillar for the family. The artwork was created during a time when I was processing complex emotions related to my grandmother's stroke. The disintegration in the piece may visually represent my emotions from that period. However, when I think of my grandmother, I am reminded of her forgiving spirit and the calmness with which she graced the earth. I find peace in these thoughts, which is symbolized by the water (rain) falling from the bird in the print.
