Limitless

In this painting I challenge the set ideas of painting on a primed canvas. The combination of using traditional paint on a background which was stained by plant and earth material, resulted in a work where the element of surprise became the main concept. Some colours where completely soaked up by the unprimed surface and many layers of paint were required in certain areas. My aim was to ‘illustrate’ the unlimited options in artmaking, and to create an existential moment with dynamic line and bright colour, which fades away quickly into the subdued dark background.
