β€œIn the beginning there was a river. The river became a road and the road branched out to the whole world. And because the road was once a river it was always hungry.”

The Famished Road, Ben Okri.

Liminal City, Mount Argus is one vista within a greater contemplation of the forlorn chaos that is the city of Durban- a place that continually calls me back, not through spectacle, but through an enduring sense of mystery. Unlike Johannesburg or Cape Town, whose identities are often framed through their commercial, or cultural achievements, Durban possesses a more elusive quality – one that cannot be seen but that communicates potently to the prodigal children and to the vagrant spirits of the world. Beyond the palpable world lies the possibility of sanctuary.

It is the place where you return to be vulnerable.
