Lerato Lodi - Ditaola II

Lerato Lodi was born in north-west of Pretoria, South Africa, in the township of Ga-Rankuwa. Lodi is currently based in Atteridgeville and works from her studio. Lodi's artistic practice focuses on themes related to her spirituality. She interrogates ideas and ideals of African spirituality and Christianity as they manifest in her own life and the lives of those, she encounters using paint on canvas and non-traditional art making materials such as beads and sacred cloth. Lodi explores the various ways in which people worship and pray through experiencing shrines, temples, and the materials brought into those sites as offerings.
