The Shepherd’s View Series is a new body of work in which I explore the symbolism of sheep as presented in the Bible. The large charcoal drawings were created through a repetitive process: drawing, throwing water onto the surface, and allowing the charcoal dust to be moved by the water, before drawing again and repeating the process. This act of throwing water on the surface forms a parallel with the act of baptism, where one is born again and cleansed of sin. The visual result is a landscape that may not be perfect by conventional standards, but is nonetheless beautiful despite its imperfections.
