Colleen Brand - Now Look What You Made Me Do!

This piece combines my fine art gender-related content with the wearable art adornments I make in my textile jewellery business.  The unwearable necklace addresses the subject of verbal abuse.  I have embroidered texts used by abusers on bridal tulle.  Leather and steel contrast with embroidered tulle and pearls to represent male and female protagonists. 

Colleen has exhibited as a painter, printmaker, and performance artist. She is the designer/creator at African Baroque Textile Jewellery and is represented in Canada, the US, Japan and Australia.
