I selected body horror as my main concept following body dysmorphia, disfigurement and insecurity. It’s often a problem people face as far as to get plastic surgery, body modifications or experience anorexia. These can be easily overlooked even with how often they’re mentioned in media.
My work will hopefully serve to express how out of the ordinary or distorted societal views on people change how they see themselves.
The fine work of etching will show how people only notice things about themselves through constant scrutiny.
I want to show what most people choose to remain ignorant to or don’t want to see because it makes them uncomfortable.
'Bio-centric' is a mental merge with a non-human world. Its the blurring of someone's identity with what they feel more connected to, in this case - plants. There's a comfortability in something which people will view as different and possible cast others out because of it.
