 Most pieces begin with ideas and shapes taken from my natural environment. I am drawn to forms that are imprints of nature and the earth. Through forging, binding, patination, and hand fabrication, pieces are intentionally asymmetric. Shadows, marks and abrasions are deliberate. Silver often look like brushstrokes. My work is layered with colour, textures and mixed materials. I work with found objects, clay, resin, acrylic paint, high-density fibre board, glass and steel. I push the boundaries of what is perceived as ‘precious’ by using materials low in intrinsic value, but crafted with care and combined with precious metals. Sterling silver is my first choice of metals.
