“Monna ke nku, o llela teng” – “A man is a sheep, he cries silently.”
This Sepedi idiom inspired the title of our exhibition, which explores the complexities of masculinity, vulnerability, and emotional silence. It invites viewers to reflect on societal expectations placed on men and artists alike — touching on themes like toxic masculinity, love, identity, politics, and fatherhood.
The sheep becomes a powerful metaphor: not just for the emotionally burdened man, but also for the overlooked, censored, or “black sheep” of the creative world.
