During his compulsory National Military Service he was a photographer at Paratus Magazine. There, he documented the rescue efforts in Swaziland following the devastation of tropical Storm Domoina.
Working as a designer, he was frustrated with the quality of the images supplied by some clients and started creating his own. His education in the history of art guides him in all aspects of his image making. The classical principles of photography plays a part in the way he sees the world.
Peter sees himself as a multifaceted photographer shooting varied subjects from portraits to landscape, from commercial to fine art photography. The images he makes covers his broad range of interests and he uses a camera as his medium for creating art and to express his world view.
His work has been extensively published in print. He was commissioned by Map Studio to create two books – “BrewTool Coffee Culture”– a handy travel guide on where to find the best coffee in South Africa. He covered the length and breadth of South Africa in search of the perfect cup. He also photographed a coffee table book, “50 Portraits of Johannesburg and Pretoria” and other publications.
He has participated in several group exhibitions at Art It Is Gallery, RES Gallery, Gordart Gallery, Art Box Gallery, Stockvel Gallery and Van Heerden Gallery. Most of his images are in private collections. He runs his own photographic and design business, Planet Design, and has a diverse portfolio of clients.
