Jean Lemmer

Jean Paul Lemmer is a sculptor, craftsman and art teacher from the Eastern Cape, South Africa. After graduating with a B.Tech. (Fine art) in 1998 from the Port Elizabeth Technikon (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University), he relocated to Europe where he worked as an artist and craftsman for 15 years in London and in Berlin. His artworks have included many different media over the years, such as stone and woodcarving, metal work, stained glass, and analogue electronic sound art. He has been involved in a number of large-scale commissions both via artist/craftsman collectives and as a solo artist. He moved to Johannesburg (from Berlin, Germany) in 2012 and took up teaching Visual Art in secondary schools. He graduated (cum laude) with a Master of Technology (M. Tech.) degree through The University of Johannesburg in 2016. He currently lives in Melville, Johannesburg, and is head of the art department at Deutsche Internationale Schule, Johannesburg.
