Jason Langa

Jason Langa (b.1997), in Johannesburg is an emerging contemporary figurative painter and printmaker. His primary medium is oil paint and he also uses printmaking in its various techniques. His immediate community are the main source of inspiration for his subjects and coupled with his use of colour to represent skin tones, he aims to create an emotional connection between his work and the viewer.

Langa has exhibited prints in projects such as the Student Lockdown Collection, Green Economic Recovery, Waste Reclaimers, at Documenta 15, Kassel, Germany, as part of the APS, UJ & UP student print collaboration. He has also exhibited his paintings at Denzil’s & Jo Gallery, The Viewing Room Gallery and Ellis House Gallery. His work has also featured in physical publications namely Nokutela Mdima-Dube 1873-1917 and issue 13 of the Iqhawe Magazine publication. He also recently took part in the RMB Talent Unlocked 2024 program.
