Short Bio,
Elsa van der Klashorst is a South African artist based in Pretoria. She holds a
Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of South Africa and has exhibited
widely in both solo and group exhibitions. Her solo shows include presentations at
Fried Contemporary, The Viewing Room and Terra Contemporary galleries, while her
group exhibitions extend internationally, including a showing in Bages, France.
Working primarily with mixed media, acrylic and collage, Elsa explores layered
compositions that reflect her ongoing engagement with materiality, space, and
nature. She has a strong interest in the environment that she lives in. Her work
explores the vital relationship between plants and people living in urban spaces. Her
latest work highlights the role of the manmade forest in cities and the need to
preserve natural spaces.
